Danbury’s R.J. Reby Foundation Announces Recipients of Annual Scholarship Awards

DANBURY, CT, June 17, 2002 - It’s a tie! In a unique decision, the Robert J. Reby Foundation recently announced this year’s local scholarship prize would be awarded to two outstanding college-bound seniors.

Bonnie Harriman of Danbury High School, and Sarah Mower of Ridgefield High School, were named this year’s recipients for achieving excellence in academics, extra-circular activities and community service. Each senior will receive $2500 towards college expenses at the start of their freshman year.

Robert J. Reby, co-founder of the R.J. Reby Foundation, says it was too tough a call when it came to choosing between two exceptionally bright and promising young women. “They are sure to make great strides in whatever they choose to do in the future,” Reby says, who in a final decision named both Harriman and Mower this year’s winners.

In support of the local community, the R.J. Reby Foundation has been honoring students since its inception in 1997. As an alum of North Salem High School, Reby launched the non-profit foundation, with his wife Mary, in support of honoring achievements in both educational and personal excellence. His success as a financial investment advisor and the founder of a highly successful wealth management and retirement planning firm inspired Reby to encourage young students.

Setting itself apart from scholarships awarded on academics alone, the Foundation celebrates well-rounded students and the unique characteristics that clearly set a candidate apart from the rest. Strength of character, diligent work habits, active participation in athletics and perhaps most importantly, giving back to both the school and the local community, are all important traits that the Reby Foundation seeks to celebrate each year.

As a resident of Ridgefield and with a business based in Danbury, Reby takes great pride in remaining connected with his community by conducting free educational workshops and seminars for residents of Fairfield, Litchfield, Putnam, Dutchess and Westchester counties. In addition, Reby is a respected media source and has appeared on CNBC and CNNfn.

The R.J. Reby Foundation is located at is located at 83 Wooster Heights, Danbury, Connecticut, and can be reached by calling 203/744-2121, or visiting www.bobreby.com.
