Danbury’s R.J. Reby Foundation Announces Recipients of Annual Scholarship Awards

DANBURY, CT, July 22, 2003 - The R.J. Reby Foundation recently announced that two exceptional seniors, Amanda DiNardo, Danbury High School and Jaclyn Wofsey, Ridgefield High School, are this year’s recipients of the foundation’s college scholarship awards. They were chosen for achieving excellence in academics, extra-curricular activities and community service and together will receive a total of $5,000 towards college expenses. Since 1997, the foundation has awarded more than $35,000 in scholarships to area students.

Robert J. Reby, president and co-founder of the R.J. Reby Foundation, Inc., says each year it becomes more difficult to select the recipients of the award since so many area students are deserving of the scholarship. “We look for students who not only have good grades, but for those who are well-rounded and have participated in school activities. Their commitment to serving the community also factors into our decision. Over the years, it has been rewarding to follow our students through college, and most recently into careers, and to know that in some small way, we have helped.”

In support of the local community, the R.J. Reby Foundation has been honoring students since its inception in 1997. Both Reby, a local business owner, and his wife Mary grew up in the area, and launched the non-profit foundation in support of honoring achievements in both educational and personal excellence. Reby’s success as a wealth management advisor and the founder of a highly successful firm inspired Reby to encourage young students.

Setting itself apart from scholarships awarded on academics alone, the Foundation celebrates well-rounded students and the unique characteristics that clearly set a candidate apart from the rest. Strength of character, diligent work habits, active participation in athletics and perhaps most importantly, giving back to both the school and the local community, are all important traits that the Reby Foundation seeks to celebrate each year.
