Reby Foundation ScholarshipDanbury, CT — Ridgefield High School’s Andrea Stella is one of two area winners of the R.J. Reby Foundation, Inc. Scholarship Award. Combined, the winners receive $5,000 award toward college expenses. The nonprofit foundation, now in its seventh year, has given almost $40,000 in scholarship funds to qualifying students. Unlike other purely academic scholarships, the R.J. Reby Foundation seeks out “the well-rounded student” by honoring academic as well as personal achievements. Stella meets many of the R.J. Reby Foundation’s Scholarship criteria as she has an excellent academic record, was a member of Ridgefield High School’s Indoor/Outdoor Varsity track and rows for the Norwalk River Rowing Association. In addition, Stella is active in an Appalachian Service Project with her church and interns at Air Age Publishing (Ridgefield). Robert J. Reby, president and cofounder of the R.J. Reby Foundation states, “The foundation was started because we believe in giving back to the community and wanted to encourage students who established a solid record of high school achievements to excel even further in higher education and beyond.” He continues, “The Foundation hopes to be a part of helping our local scholars to achieve their goals. Reby also a native of this area founded a highlysuccessful wealth management firm, Robert J. Reby & Company, Inc. The Danbury based firm has a client base that reaches into the contiguous five county area and specializes in retirement planning, comprehensive financial planning and wealth management. According to Reby, “Andrea [Stella] is a natural choice for this award...we’re proud to reward her achievements.” In the fall, Stella will attend Fordham University to study English and eventually hopes to become a freelance writer.
