Founded by Robert J. Reby in 1997, the R. J. Reby Foundation, Inc. is a 501(c)3 charitable grant-giving organization based in Danbury, Connecticut, that supports personal excellence and formal education.

The Foundation rewards educational excellence by granting college scholarships to selected high school seniors.

Bob’s commitment to helping clients with their finances has led him to write Retire without Worry, a new book that was published by the Foundation in January, 2004.

Profits from the sales of the book will go to fund the Foundation’s charitable activities.

Who is Eligible to Apply?

  • High school seniors who live in Danbury, Connecticut, or Ridgefield, Connecticut
  • High school seniors in Danbury or Ridgefield who have demonstrated personal excellence in academic and extracurricular activities
  • Danbury High School or Ridgefield High School seniors who plan to attend college.

Note: You do not have to plan to attend a Connecticut college or university in order to apply.

Annual awards up to $2,500.

Scholarship awards are announced annually in June.

Students need not be “A” students to apply; the Foundation rewards well-rounded students who aspire to and have demonstrated excellence in their personal and scholastic lives. Financial need and other mitigating factors in a student’s life are considered during the awards process.

Extracurricular activities are also taken into consideration during the process. Activities might include:

  • Part-time job(s)
  • Athletics
  • After-school drama clubs
  • Chorus or choir
  • Church- or synagogue-related functions
  • Working on the school newspaper or yearbook
  • Prom committee membership
  • Community service or volunteering
  • Caring for younger siblings or other family member
  • Starting your own business

Other Education Grants

In 2002, Robert, on behalf of the R.J. Reby Foundation, Inc., donated $25,000 in support of the Western Connecticut State University endowment fund.

Elaborating on his donation, Bob Reby told the press at the time, “I have always believed education is key to independence and intellectual growth.”

Bob Reby is an avid supporter of local education, especially for students who may not have the means to attend costly private schools.
